MANILA, Philippines – Fares for commuters taking the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1 will be more expensive starting April 2.
This comes over a month after the Department of Transportation held a public hearing on the petition of the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) — the private company operating LRT1 — to implement fare increases.
The approved fare scheme is lower than the LRMC’s proposal:
Ticket type | Current Fare Scheme | Proposed Fare Scheme | Approved fare hike |
Single Journey Ticket | Minimum: P15.00 Maximum: P45.00 | Minimum: P25.00 Maximum: P60.00 | Minimum: P20 Maximum: P55 |
Stored Value Card | Minimum: P15.00 Maximum: P43.00 | Minimum: P21.00 Maximum: P58.00 | Minimum: P16 Maximum: P52 |
