MANILA, Philippines – At least five better-known senatorial slates were formally launched during the start of the campaign period last week, with only the administration-backed Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas coalition introducing a complete 12-person ticket. The progressive Makabayan bloc has 11 bets, while the Duterte-endorsed PDP-Laban slate has 4 candidates, the independent Kiko-Bam tandem and the labor sector’s Manggagawa Naman have 2 “senatoriables” each.
There are 66 names on the senatorial ballot, but at least three have withdrawn since the printing of the ballots. They are Wilbert Lee, Willie Ong, and Chavit Singson.
Here are the planned sorties of the senatorial candidates during the week of February 17-23. This page is constantly updated throughout the week as advisories from candidates’ camps and their supporters come in.
